Re:"MD Judge Orders Investor to Pay $510,968..." - 2006/12/15 04:44
Sherman,
Let me be as concise as possible. My only agenda is to express my opinion when I believe people who bill themselves as educators step over the line of propriety.
In my opinion - using scare techniques in promoting an educational endeavor is wrong.
I got another email today stating that an investor was hit with a $500K for violating SB761 and implying that if I did the same, "you could be next".
That implication is patently false and unfounded. The only conclusion you can draw from this case is that if you commit FRAUD, with malice, you could be subject to large punitive damage. If I still don't see your point, it's because I'm hung up on this one.
I've pretty much had enough of discussing this issue. I was actually disappointed when I got that email from you guys today. For the last 2 years, I believed that you and Bruce were successful investors who shared your knowledge for a fee that pretty much covered your time - because that's what you enjoyed doing. It's a rare person who enjoys their profession so much that they teach others primarily for the satisfaction of giving opportunity to others. I thought you were that guy.
Now my belief is that if you've got to try to scare people into coming to your courses - you're more focused on bringing in dollars from classes than investing and sharing knowledge and opportunity. That disappoints me.
Good luck with Real Investors Academy, I know you'll do well. Just remember there's a reason why people snicker when Charlie Parrish's name is mentioned...
Bobby
